Great cooling setup you have there!! Makes me think I could have got even higher with my old WR on air with 3500+ Venice socket 939. Stock was ~2200MHz (11x 200) & it POST’ed at 3300MHz but BSOD on XP splash screen. Tried 3280MHz with 1.8v(!!) & to my surprise it got in to Windows XP & straight away I loaded cpu-z and saved the file, then uploading it to the cpu-z verification program and have the link to it on my Channel. had an ‘Applebred’ core based Duron 1.6GHz & managed to clock it between 2400 & 2500MHz but it took a lot more voltage than it did at 2300MHz, so I just let it run at 2.3 - after I re-enabled the ‘full’ level 2 cache by joining a l2 bridge I think and all I used was a hb pencil and checked continuity using my voltmeter and made sure there was no short-circuit. Powered it up, loaded cpu-z and in ‘cache’ it stated there was ‘256kb) - same as Athlon xp (tbred a/b and palomino) socket a processors. A large percentage of Duron Applebred CPU’s were destined to be sold with 256kb rather than their standard 64kb and therefore, being Athlon XP (tbred a / b) dut3c was 1.6v default and the best clocking were dlt3c due to their lower default vcore of 1.5v! I’m sure that many Athlon XP’s were destined to be double their 256kb l2 and the 166FSB ‘Barton’ Athlon’s were 512kb l2 cache. Many of the ‘166FSB Barton’s’ were destined to be 200FSB Barton CPU’s, 3200+ and I think there might have been another one at 10x 200, rather than the 3200+’s default multiplier being 11x.
Thanks. But it's not just the cooling, the ambient temperature is a big factor and most of all the revision of the chip itself. @@PCWERMAN very nice OC mate! Wish it was -8c ambient temperature here in the UK! The XP-m clocked higher (generally) than the ordinary Barton core Athlon. I have had both 2500+ Barton and 2500+ m processors from AMD and the mobile one clocked about 200MHz higher (poor clocking example) but the mobile had a lower default vcore so it had a lot of extra headroom for overclocking. You can't got it from anywhere. Probably only I have them. ... I downloaded them before the ATI was sold to AMD
@@PCWERMAN Hey do you happen to have the 9800 Educational Demo? The one on Wayback Machine doesn't have the main background music for it anymore (only the intro music). I used to listen to that background music for hours back in the day before they removed it from their site. Been trying to see if I can find it ever since for nostalgia's sake as it pops back into my head every now and then!
i've installed pentium 4 ihs on amd duron, i have video on channel, and i've overclocked it from 800mhz to 806mhz!
Excellent video / interesting / well explained / AMD Duron, the best processor / I have one like the one you show in the video, it's fantastic and since I have the PC configured, I play almost everything
